Learn this unique printmaking method through the art of collage! In this fun mashup class, we will compose black and white collages from our trove of hand-picked + vintage ephemera collected over the years, and then bring them to colorful life through analog risograph printing! We’ll play with image selection, composing & color combos to send you off with beautiful risograph prints to share + take home.

Risograph (ree-sow-graf) printing is a fun (and environmentally friendly) print-making process invented in Japan that looks like a photocopier, works as a screenprinter, and uses stencils and rich spot colors to create vibrant, unique prints. 

The Class

• Risography basics: history, inspiration, print demonstration & all the quirks
• Collage composing using provided lettering, graphics, images, textures, photos
• Printing a set of 15, 3-color prints on 8.5 x 11” cover weight paper in variety of colors
• Print swap — take home prints from the class to start your collection
• Small workshop format — maximized time to compose and print

• Anyone who wants to take future intermediate riso class/workshop with us

Instructors:

This class is led by our riso-in-residence Sara DeRose &  Lauren McKenzie of REN Creativ.

Supplies Needed:

• You don't need to bring a thing except yourself! We provide a slew of making tools, pens, paper, collage materials, and more!
• Optional: If you have a favorite darker marker, bring it to experiment.
• This workshop is analog so leave your digital tools/laptops/ipads at home and get ready to work with your hands!

Registration is non-refundable or exchangeable. Additional supplies available for purchase at Ladyfingers Letterpress should you desire them. All students receive a 10% discount on all in-store purchases on the day of the workshop.
